IHG Rolls Out LINE MiniApp in Japan, Expanding Digital Access for 1.4M+ Users

IHG Hotels & Resorts has launched its LINE MiniApp in Japan, offering guests a more integrated way to book hotels and manage their IHG One Rewards accounts through one of the country’s most widely used digital platforms.
LINE, a popular messaging app with over 195 million monthly active users across Asia, has over 90% penetration in Japan among users aged 13 to 79. By integrating with LINE, IHG aims to make travel planning and loyalty engagement more convenient for Japanese customers.
Key Features of the IHG LINE MiniApp:
Hotel Booking: Users can browse and book from over 6,600 IHG hotels worldwide directly within the LINE app.
One-Click Rewards Enrollment: LINE users can sign up for IHG One Rewards using their LINE credentials.
Account Management: Members can view their status, check point balances, and redeem rewards without leaving the app.
Partner Points Access: Users can manage points from Rakuten Points and ANA Mileage Club within the same platform.
The MiniApp also includes exclusive campaign access and a set of limited-edition LINE stickers created for the launch. These digital stickers are available for download through August 25.
According to Abhijay Sandilya, CEO of IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan and Managing Director of IHG Hotels & Resorts Japan & Micronesia,
“Our goal is to offer travelers more flexibility in how they interact with IHG. With LINE being a key digital channel in Japan, this launch helps us reach consumers in an environment they’re already engaged with.”
Earlier in 2024, IHG enhanced its official LINE account, leading to notable growth in followers. As of July 2025, the account has over 1.4 million subscribers, reflecting steady engagement.
The introduction of the LINE MiniApp is part of IHG’s broader effort to align with changing guest behaviours and provide easy, mobile-first solutions that improve the overall customer experience.
