IHCL Launches 73rd Skilling Centre at Kumaon University, Nainital
Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has inaugurated its 73rd Skilling Centre at Kumaon University in Nainital, in collaboration with Tata STRIVE, Setu Aayog, and the Government of Uttarakhand. The centre was officially opened by Shri Rajshekhar Joshi, Vice Chairman of Setu Aayog.

Mr. Gaurav Pokhariyal, Executive Vice President – Human Resources, IHCL, said, “At IHCL, we believe hospitality begins with empowering communities. The new skilling centre in Nainital represents an important step in building local talent and creating opportunities for youth across the country. Under our ESG+ framework of Paathya, IHCL aims to skill 1,00,000 individuals by 2030.”
The center aims to train over 500 youth in hospitality disciplines over the next three years. The training will cover areas such as Food and Beverage Service, Food Production, and Front Office operations. This initiative involves several partners: the Government of Uttarakhand and Kumaon University are providing infrastructure and facilities; Tata STRIVE is the implementation partner; Setu Aayog is coordinating the program; and IHCL is contributing as the knowledge partner.

The new centre will focus on enabling local employment by preparing youth for careers within the hospitality sector, particularly in nearby hotels and tourism establishments.
Through its Paathya framework, IHCL continues to strengthen its commitment to community development and skill enhancement, operating 73 centres across 21 states and 32 aspirational districts in India.
