Hyatt Announces Plans for Andaz Hiroshima, Opening in 2027

Hyatt Hotels Corporation recently announced that one of its affiliates has signed a management agreement with an affiliate of Takenaka Corporation for the Andaz Hiroshima. This will be the first Hyatt property in the Chūgoku region of western Japan, and the hotel is set to open in 2027.

Located in the center of Hiroshima, Andaz Hiroshima will occupy the 21st to 31st floors of a new mixed-use high-rise that forms part of a public-private urban redevelopment project. The hotel will feature 235 guest rooms and suites, with design elements inspired by Hiroshima’s cultural heritage and the site’s history, which once connected Hiroshima Castle with the surrounding town. Planned facilities include restaurants, a rooftop bar and restaurant, a fitness center with an indoor pool, and flexible event and banquet spaces.

Hiroshima is known worldwide as the City of Peace and is home to the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nearby Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island—also a UNESCO site—is among Japan’s most notable landmarks. The region offers opportunities for cycling and island exploration, linking Kure in Hiroshima Prefecture with Okamura Island in Ehime Prefecture via scenic bridges.

Hiroshima has developed as a center for design, art, cuisine, and craftsmanship in the Chūgoku region. Venues such as the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, along with local galleries and performance spaces, contribute to the city’s creative landscape, connecting cultural traditions with modern expression.

Well connected by Japan’s high-speed rail network, Hiroshima is accessible from Osaka in approximately 90 minutes and from Tokyo in about four hours. Hiroshima Airport further supports domestic and international connectivity.

Andaz, part of Hyatt’s Lifestyle Group, draws inspiration from local culture and design to create guest experiences reflective of each destination. Situated within a newly developed building, Andaz Hiroshima aims to offer experiences that incorporate elements of Hiroshima’s community and culture in a modern, globally connected setting.

“Hyatt has been a valued collaborator on several projects, and we look forward to working together on this development.”

Sam Sakamura, Representative Director for Japan and Micronesia, Hyatt, said, “Hiroshima offers a combination of culture, history, and innovation that aligns with the Andaz brand philosophy. We look forward to welcoming guests to experience the city from a new perspective.”

The Andaz brand first entered Japan with Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills. Andaz Hiroshima will become the second property under the brand in the country.
