Tamer Khedr Appointed Managing Director of Minor Hotels Egypt
Minor Hotels has appointed Tamer Khedr as Managing Director of Minor Hotels Egypt, a newly created position that reflects the group’s plans to expand its presence in the country.
The appointment forms part of Minor Hotels’ long-term strategy for Egypt, where the company is increasing its focus on hotel operations and development opportunities. In his new role, Khedr will oversee the group’s business activities in Egypt, supporting portfolio growth and operational performance across both existing and upcoming properties.
Khedr brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience, with expertise spanning hotel operations, asset management, owner representation and mixed-use developments. He joins Minor Hotels from DO Hotels, where he served as Chief Executive Officer.
Before that, he held leadership positions, including Head of Hospitality and Owner Representative for Emaar Hospitality Group’s North Coast developments in Egypt. His career also includes operational roles with Emaar Hospitality Group, Baron Palace Sahl Hasheesh and Shangri-La Dubai.

Commenting on the appointment, Amir Golbarg, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels Middle East & Africa, said Egypt remains a key market within the company’s regional growth plans. He added that Khedr’s industry knowledge and leadership experience will support the group’s continued development in the country.
The appointment comes as Minor Hotels expands its footprint in Egypt. The company recently announced the signing of Anantara Somabay Resort & Residences, introducing its Anantara brand to the Red Sea destination. In 2024, Minor Hotels also entered a joint venture with SUNRISE Resorts & Cruises to develop and operate up to 50 hotels across Egypt over the next decade, including resorts, hotels and Nile cruise experiences.
These developments highlight Egypt’s growing role within the hotel group’s global portfolio and support the company’s plans to expand into key tourism and lifestyle destinations across the country.
Speaking about his new role, Khedr said he was pleased to join Minor Hotels during a period of expansion in Egypt. He noted that the country’s tourism sector continues to evolve and said he looks forward to working with partners and teams to support the company’s growth plans while enhancing guest experiences.
The appointment underscores the hotel group’s dedication to Egypt and bolsters the company’s upcoming expansion plans in the market.
