Hilton Signs Conrad Meia Praia Algarve, a New Beachfront Resort in Portugal
Hilton has announced the signing of Conrad Meia Praia Algarve, a new beachfront resort that will bring the Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand to Meia Praia Beach in Portugal’s Algarve. The resort is scheduled to open in spring 2027.
The project is being developed by a joint venture between PGIM’s real estate business, Sonae Sierra and Iberian Hospitality Solutions (IHSP) under a franchise agreement, marking the group’s second collaboration with Hilton. The development will also include 21 Conrad-branded residences.
Located a short drive from Lagos town, Conrad Meia Praia Algarve will feature 116 guest rooms and suites, all offering sea views, including seven rooms with private plunge pools. Facilities will include two restaurants, a beach club, lobby and pool bars, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a Conrad-branded spa, a fitness centre and a dedicated space for meetings and events. The resort’s design and guest experience will reflect Conrad’s focus on contemporary design, personalised service and locally rooted experiences.
Dan Wakeling, Vice President, Development, Luxury & Residential, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Hilton, said the signing supports Hilton’s continued expansion of its luxury portfolio across Europe and adds a new Conrad destination in Portugal.
Dino Michael, Senior Vice President and Global Category Head, Hilton Luxury Brands, noted that the resort will combine modern design, service and the natural setting of the Algarve to offer guests an experience shaped by local culture and surroundings.
Representatives of the joint venture said the project aligns with their strategy of developing and managing hospitality assets in established tourism destinations. Supported by IHSP’s operational expertise, the resort is intended to contribute to the long-term development of Portugal’s tourism sector.
This is the second investment by the Sonae Sierra–IHSP joint venture, following the opening of Cénica Porto Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, in Porto in April 2024. The joint venture targets a gross asset value of approximately €200 million.
The Algarve remains one of Europe’s established leisure destinations, known for its coastal towns, golf courses and year-round climate. Conrad Meia Praia Algarve will join Hilton’s portfolio in Portugal, which currently includes 30 operating hotels and 16 in development. The signing builds on Conrad Hotels & Resorts’ presence in the country, alongside Conrad Algarve in Quinta do Lago.
The property will also be part of Hilton’s wider pipeline of luxury openings across Europe, alongside projects such as Waldorf Astoria Admiralty Arch in London and Sandblu Santorini under the LXR Hotels & Resorts brand.
