Hilton Expands Tapestry Collection with Plymouth and Cork Debuts

Hilton Expands Lifestyle Portfolio with Tapestry Collection Signings in Plymouth and Cork

Hilton has announced the signing of two new Tapestry Collection by Hilton properties in Plymouth and Cork, further strengthening its lifestyle portfolio across the UK and Ireland. The move underscores Hilton’s long-term, selective expansion strategy focused on high-demand destinations and regionally significant markets.

The additions will join a growing portfolio of Tapestry Collection properties in key regional hotspots such as Dover, York, Portrush and St Albans. Marking Hilton’s debut in both Plymouth and Cork, the two new hotels are expected to generate approximately 100 jobs, contributing to local economies while enhancing the brand’s footprint in historic maritime destinations.

Strengthening lifestyle presence across the region

The expansion of Tapestry Collection supports Hilton’s broader growth in the lifestyle segment across the UK and Ireland. Recent developments include signings of Motto by Hilton in Manchester, Tempo by Hilton in Belfast, and two Curio Collection by Hilton properties in London—including The Derby London City and the recently opened The BoTree London.

New Continental Plymouth to undergo transformation

Originally built in 1865, the New Continental Hotel—one of Plymouth’s oldest properties—will be repositioned as New Continental Plymouth, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, under a franchise agreement with Elevate Hotels Plymouth Ltd. Located in the city centre on Millbay Road, the hotel will feature 120 fully renovated guest rooms, alongside meeting spaces, a fitness centre, and a restaurant and bar.

Scheduled to open in spring 2027, the hotel offers proximity to key attractions including Plymouth Hoe, as well as the city’s vibrant dining and cultural scene along Devon’s south coast.

Al Malik, Managing Director, Elevate Hotels Plymouth Ltd, said, “We are delighted to have acquired the New Continental Hotel, a landmark property with a long-standing heritage in the heart of Plymouth. This acquisition aligns with our strategy of investing in high-quality regional hotels with strong trading fundamentals and significant upside potential.

The New Continental Hotel stands out as a well-positioned asset in a dynamic coastal city, and we see considerable opportunity to enhance its offering and drive long-term value. We are particularly excited to reposition the hotel as part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection brand, which we believe will further strengthen its appeal and performance.

New-build hotel to enhance Cork’s hospitality landscape

In Ireland, Cork City Centre, Tapestry Collection by Hilton will be developed in partnership with JMK Group. The new-build property will feature 103 guest rooms, including extended-stay options with kitchenettes, catering to both short and longer stays.

Situated on South Terrace in the heart of Cork, the hotel will offer easy access to cultural attractions, business districts, universities and transport links. With amenities including a restaurant, bar and fitness space, the hotel is designed to appeal to both leisure and business travellers. The property is expected to open in autumn 2027.

Sonia Kajani, Director, JMK Group, said, “We are excited to bring the Tapestry Collection by Hilton to Cork. Hilton’s strong brand recognition and global reach make them an ideal partner, and this project will be a brilliant addition to our growing portfolio of high-quality hotels. We are looking forward to offering guests an outstanding stay in the city’s beautiful South Terrace.”

Enhancing guest experience through loyalty

Guests at both properties will benefit from Hilton Honors, Hilton’s award-winning loyalty programme. Members booking directly can earn points for stays and experiences, while enjoying benefits such as contactless check-in, room selection and exclusive discounts.

With these latest signings, Hilton continues to expand its lifestyle-driven offerings in the UK and Ireland, combining locally inspired design with global brand strength to meet evolving traveller expectations.
