The George at Columbia, Tapestry Collection by Hilton Opens in Harlem
The George at Columbia, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is now open on Morningside Avenue and 126th Street, bringing Hilton’s hospitality to Harlem while connecting with the neighbourhood’s culture and the nearby Columbia University.
The property is situated near landmarks including Columbia University, the Apollo Theater, Morningside Park, the Studio Museum, and the National Jazz Museum. Its name honours both George “Shorty George” Snowden, a Harlem dance figure, and King George II, who chartered Columbia University in 1754.
“Opening The George is a personal experience for me,” said Sam Martinez, General Manager.
“It’s an opportunity to create jobs, build partnerships with local businesses, and welcome both residents and visitors.”

The hotel features 139 guest rooms, terraces, a lobby bar, a fitness center, and 2,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. It also includes plans for two full-service restaurants and a heated outdoor pool, all set to open in 2026. Design elements include earth tones, matte blacks, deep greens, and brass accents, offering a comfortable and functional environment for guests.
“The George connects guests to Harlem’s community and history through design and programming,” said Andrew Nkunku, Regional Director of Sales and Marketing.
“We aim to create a welcoming space for both visitors and local residents.”
The George at Columbia also participates in Hilton Honors, offering members benefits such as direct booking perks, free standard Wi-Fi, and digital tools through the Hilton Honors mobile app.

The property is located at 412 West 126th Street, Harlem, New York, 10027, and is the first Hilton property in the neighbourhood. Tapestry Collection by Hilton is a portfolio of independent hotels with unique designs, experiences, and locally inspired dining.
