Hilton and Brighton Corporation to Introduce Curio Collection by Hilton in Kyoto in 2028

Curio Collection by Hilton Fact Sheet | Stories From Hilton

Hilton has announced the signing of its second Curio Collection by Hilton hotel in Japan, in partnership with Brighton Corporation Co., Ltd. The existing Kyoto Brighton Hotel will undergo a full renovation before reopening as a Curio Collection by Hilton property in the winter of 2028.

Brighton Corporation, which operates four hotels, including Kyoto Brighton Hotel and Urayasu Brighton Hotel Tokyo Bay, will continue to manage the property. After renovation, the hotel will feature approximately 160 guest rooms, four dining outlets including Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine, a banquet space for up to 240 guests, and a fitness centre. The project marks the brand’s entry into Kyoto.

Kyoto Brighton Hotel will join a portfolio of over 190 hotels under the Curio Collection by Hilton, each selected for its distinctive design and local character. In Japan, the brand first entered the market in 2018 with a hotel in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture. Recent regional openings include KROMO Bangkok in Thailand and Secan Hotel Qingdao in China.

Hirohisa Fujimoto, vice president of development for Japan & Micronesia at Hilton, said the expansion reflects Hilton’s ongoing growth in Kyoto, where the company currently operates five hotels under four brands. He noted that the partnership with Brighton Corporation aligns with offering travellers a range of hotel experiences connected to local culture.

Tsutomu Yasuda, President of Brighton Corporation Co., Ltd., said the collaboration with Hilton supports the goal of creating a hotel that reflects the strengths of Kyoto Brighton Hotel while building on the company’s experience and ties with the local community.

Curio Collection by Hilton participates in Hilton Honors, the guest loyalty program for Hilton’s portfolio of brands. Members who book directly through Hilton channels receive various benefits, including flexible payment options combining Points and money, member discounts, and standard Wi-Fi. Members can also access digital services such as contactless check-in, room selection, and Digital Key through the Hilton Honors mobile app.
