Greece Reopens Visa Application Centres in India as Travel Processing Resumes
Greece has resumed visa application processing across India, effective 12 February 2026, reopening its Visa Application Centres (VACs) and restoring regular processing for Indian travellers. The move is expected to facilitate travel between the two countries by improving access to visa services.
According to the Greek Embassy in New Delhi, Indian applicants must book appointments through the official online platform and submit complete documentation at the time of application. Standard visa processing time is 15 days, but may extend to 45 working days in cases requiring consultation with other Schengen states. Applications can be filed up to six months prior to travel, with authorities advising travellers to apply at least 15 working days before departure, particularly for applications submitted outside New Delhi.
Alongside the resumption of visa services, air connectivity between India and Greece is also set to improve. While current travel options largely involve transit through Middle Eastern hubs or Istanbul, developments in airline partnerships are expected to support smoother travel.
IndiGo and Aegean Airlines have recently signed a memorandum of understanding for a codeshare partnership. The agreement aims to enhance connectivity between India and Greece and provide passengers with access to a wider European network. The partnership is expected to support the introduction of additional routes, strengthening travel links between the two regions.
