Delta Introduces New Time-Saving Travel Options on the Ground and In the Air

Delta

Delta is enhancing the travel experience through government partnerships and new technology. These updates are designed to make the journey simpler at key stages: departure, connections, and arrival.

Bag Drop and Security

Customers who check in on the Delta app at ATL, BOS, DTW, and SEA can now use the expedited “App Bag Drop” service to print bag tags and drop bags with shorter wait times. This option will be available at all Delta hubs by the end of the year.

Touchless ID

Touchless ID, previously called Delta Digital ID, allows eligible customers to pass through bag drop and security without presenting a physical ID. It is currently available at ATL, DTW, LAX, LGA, JFK, SLC, DCA, and SEA, with security-only access at DEN, LAS, and PDX. The program will expand to all hubs by year-end.

International Connections at ATL

Delta and Korean Air customers arriving from Incheon (ICN) and Delta customers arriving from London Heathrow (LHR) can now connect in Atlanta without reclaiming and rechecking bags. This change can save up to 25 minutes.

Additionally, customers on select LHR–ATL flights with Global Entry or the Mobile Passport Control app can bypass TSA re-screening, saving up to 45 minutes.

Mobile Passport Control App

The free Mobile Passport Control app allows travelers to submit passport information in advance for faster entry into the U.S. It is available at 23 airports served by Delta.

Prepared Traveller Feature

For international trips, the Delta app now prompts customers to scan and save their passport and check destination-specific requirements before travelling.

Eligibility for Touchless ID

To use Touchless ID, customers must:

  • Have the Delta app
  • Be a TSA PreCheck member
  • Be a SkyMiles member
  • Have passport details and Known Traveler Number saved in their Delta profile

Touchless ID can reduce bag drop times by up to 75% and shorten TSA PreCheck clearance to 7–10 seconds.

Originally launched by Delta in partnership with TSA in 2021, Touchless ID for bag drop and security is now available at ATL, DTW, LAX, LGA, JFK, SLC, DCA, and SEA, with security-only access at DEN, LAS, and PDX. By the end of 2025, Delta plans to expand the program to all hubs and select stations. Customers can enroll through their SkyMiles profile on delta.com.
