Emirates SkyCargo Expands Cargo Network With Almaty Service

Emirates SkyCargo has announced the launch of a dedicated weekly freighter service to Almaty International Airport in Kazakhstan, with operations scheduled to commence on 16 June 2026.

The new service marks Emirates SkyCargo’s entry into Central Asia’s dedicated freighter market and introduces Almaty as the carrier’s first cargo destination in the region. The route is expected to strengthen trade links between Central Asia and global markets through Dubai, providing businesses with enhanced access to international supply chains.

Operated by a Boeing 777F, the weekly Tuesday service will offer more than 100 tonnes of cargo capacity. The flights will support the transportation of a range of commodities, including electronics, machinery, perishables and consumer goods.

Almaty is Kazakhstan’s largest city and serves as a key commercial and logistics centre for Central Asia. Its strategic location makes it an important gateway for trade and distribution across the region.

Commenting on the launch, Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, said the new service aligns with the company’s role in facilitating global trade and expands its connectivity within Central Asia.

He noted that the route will create additional opportunities for businesses in Kazakhstan and neighbouring markets to connect with international customers through the airline’s global network.

Emirates SkyCargo Continues Network Expansion

The addition of Almaty forms part of Emirates SkyCargo’s ongoing fleet and network growth strategy. The company has expanded its freighter fleet in response to increasing demand for air cargo services and international trade connectivity.

Since March 2026, Emirates SkyCargo has taken delivery of four Boeing 777 freighters, with six additional aircraft scheduled to join the fleet before the end of the year. By December 2026, the airline’s freighter fleet is expected to reach 22 aircraft.

Alongside dedicated freighter operations, the airline also utilises cargo capacity available on Emirates passenger aircraft, providing additional freight options across destinations spanning six continents.

The launch of the Almaty service further strengthens Dubai’s position as a logistics and trade hub while providing businesses in Central Asia with expanded access to international markets.
