Cygnett Hotels & Resorts Signs Second Property in Ayodhya
Cygnett Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of its second hotel in Ayodhya, further expanding its footprint in the pilgrimage city. Building on its early entry as a branded hotel operator in the destination, the group continues to strengthen its presence in high-demand religious and cultural markets.
The upcoming Cozzet Ayodhya will be positioned as a value-focused hotel designed to meet the needs of both leisure and corporate travellers. The property will feature 70 rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, and modern guest amenities designed to provide comfort and functionality.
A key highlight of the hotel will be its 8,000 sq. ft. banquet facility with an adjoining lawn, catering to weddings, social events, and large gatherings. Additional facilities will include a fully equipped gymnasium, conference rooms, and technology-enabled solutions for business travellers. Strategically located on the Gorakhpur–Lucknow Highway, the hotel will be approximately 5 km from Maharishi Valmiki International Airport and 1.5 km from the Ram Mandir, with select rooms offering views of the temple precinct.
Ayodhya has seen a notable increase in visitor volumes following recent infrastructure developments, including improved road connectivity and the launch of the new airport. These changes have reinforced the city’s position as a major religious and cultural centre, driving consistent demand for organised accommodation in the economy and mid-scale segments.

Commenting on the signing, Sarbendra Sarkar, Founder and Managing Director of Cygnett Hotels & Resorts, said the group sees long-term opportunity for structured economy hospitality in destinations such as Ayodhya. He added that Cozzet Ayodhya aligns with the company’s strategy to expand in pilgrimage and tier-2 markets, where travel demand is driven by faith-based travel, social functions, and short leisure stays.
Cozzet Hotels, the group’s value-led brand, focuses on combining comfort, practicality, and personalised service while maintaining consistent brand standards. Properties under the brand incorporate local cultural elements alongside standardised hospitality offerings, catering to India’s growing domestic travel market.
Industry data indicate that economy hotels account for approximately 29% of India’s total room supply, with the economy and mid-scale categories comprising the majority of the country’s hotel inventory. Valued at nearly USD 6 billion, the Indian economy hotel segment continues to be driven by domestic travel, weddings, and enhanced regional connectivity. The signing of Cozzet Ayodhya adds momentum to Cygnett Hotels & Resorts’ asset-light expansion strategy across high-potential destinations.
