Conrad Athens The Ilisian Opens in Athens
Conrad Athens The Ilisian and a New Chapter for the Landmark
Hilton has opened Conrad Athens The Ilisian, marking the return of a well-known building in the city. Previously the Hilton Athens, the property has been redesigned into an urban resort set in a central cultural district.
This opening also introduces the Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand to Greece. The hotel features 278 guest rooms and suites and forms part of The Ilisian, a mixed-use development that includes dining venues, wellness facilities, private residences, and the House of NYNN members’ club.
A Landmark Reworked for Today

The building remains familiar to many Athenians and continues to play a role in the city’s cultural life. Its original marble façades by Greek artist Yannis Moralis have been retained, while lighting design by Eleftheria Deko brings a different atmosphere after dark.
Inside, the design by AvroKO combines preserved mid-century features with newly commissioned artworks and pieces created by local makers, including Saridis and ceramicist Eleni Vernadaki. Mare Studio oversaw art direction and contributed to the lobby design.

Guest rooms include private balconies in many cases, with views across the city. The hotel also offers a range of suites, including Presidential and Royal Suites, with an additional penthouse planned for later in the year.
Dining and Social Spaces

The hotel introduces several dining options within The Ilisian. At the centre is Byzantino, now operating as a brasserie serving both French and Greek dishes. The kitchen is led by chef Angelos Lantos, with menus supported by wine pairings, a cheese selection, and an in-house patisserie.
The Athenian Lounge provides a more relaxed setting throughout the day, while plans are in place for the return of the Galaxy rooftop venue under a new format. Additional restaurant concepts are expected to open later, alongside the already operating Japanese restaurant Onuki.
Wellness and Leisure Facilities

The wellness offering focuses on movement, recovery, and daily routines. Outdoor spaces include a large pool area and a rooftop zone with a running track, gym, and sports facilities.
Indoor facilities include a gym, studios for yoga and Pilates, a heated pool, and thermal areas. A dedicated wellness residence will introduce treatments influenced by ancient Greek practices, with further programmes expected to follow.
Experiences Across Athens

The hotel offers curated experiences designed to help guests explore the city at different paces. These include short visits, extended tours, and themed activities such as food trails and architectural walks.
Each experience is tailored to individual interests, aiming to provide a more local perspective of Athens.
Position Within Hilton’s Growth in Greece

The opening reflects Hilton’s expansion in Greece, where its portfolio has grown in recent years. Conrad Athens The Ilisian joins a wider group of luxury properties and signals further development in the region.
Conrad Athens The Ilisian is located on Leoforos Vasilissis Sofias and is now open to guests, with additional features and venues scheduled to launch through 2026.
