Commenting on the results, Patrick Pacious, President and Chief Executive Officer of Choice Hotels International, said the company’s 2025 performance reflects continued execution of its growth strategy, expansion of its international footprint, and ongoing engagement with franchise owners across multiple segments.

International Development Activity in 2025

Choice Hotels reported progress across several international markets during the year. The company strengthened its ownership and operational position in Canada by acquiring the remaining 50% stake in the Choice Hotels Canada joint venture. It also announced a multi-unit agreement for six Ascend Collection properties in Québec.

In Europe, the company expanded its presence in France through new Comfort hotel openings and signed a 50-unit Quality Suites agreement. Choice Hotels also entered Poland with an Ascend Collection property and a master development agreement designed to support future growth.

The extended-stay portfolio expanded into Australia with the introduction of the MainStay Suites brand across 7 properties. In Asia, Choice Hotels signed a distribution and master franchise agreement with SSAW in China, supporting planned growth under the Comfort and Quality brands over the coming years.

In Latin America, the company expanded its Radisson portfolio through new entries in Argentina and Suriname, additional signings in Brazil, and Radisson-brand openings across the region and Canada. Choice Hotels also established agreements for hotels in Kenya and a development framework for future expansion in sub-Saharan Africa.

Extended Stay Segment

Choice Hotels’ extended-stay segment recorded its highest annual opening total, with 66 domestic extended-stay hotels opening in 2025. WoodSpring Suites accounted for 28 openings, while Everhome Suites reached its 25th property. Across its four extended stay brands, the company signed 93 franchise agreements, supported by construction-led growth and marketing initiatives targeting longer-stay travellers.

Upscale and Core Brands

The company’s upscale portfolio saw 27 domestic hotel openings across Ascend Collection, Cambria Hotels, and Radisson. The domestic upscale pipeline now stands at 133 hotels, with additional openings anticipated in 2026. Brand initiatives during the year focused on guestroom updates, conversion readiness, operational efficiency, and owner support.

Core brands also maintained development momentum, with 247 U.S. franchise agreements awarded across midscale and economy segments. Country Inn & Suites and Quality Inn recorded increased franchise activity, alongside continued development across Comfort, Sleep Inn, and Econo Lodge. Brand updates, new amenities programs, and refreshed design standards were rolled out to support consistency and cost management for owners.

Choice Hotels International stated that its 2025 development activity reflects continued interest across its brand portfolio and geographies, supporting its longer-term global growth plans.
