A Wild Anniversary Escape at Sterling ReWild Sariska

We almost decided not to celebrate our anniversary this year.

Three years into marriage, celebrations feel a little different. The excitement of the early years settles into something calmer and more familiar. Instead of elaborate plans, we found ourselves wanting something simpler — a break from the city and a chance to slow down.

A quiet escape felt more meaningful than a dinner reservation or a busy city hotel. That search eventually led us to Sterling ReWild Sariska, located near the Tehla Gate of the Sariska Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan.

It seemed like the kind of place where a weekend could unfold naturally.

The drive from Delhi takes roughly a few hours, and the change in landscape happens gradually. The city skyline gives way to open fields and small towns, and eventually the rugged Aravalli hills begin to appear.

Traffic thins out and the roads become quieter.

By the time we reached the resort’s 13-acre property surrounded by rocky terrain and native dhok trees, the pace of the day had already slowed down.

A Stay That Blends with the Landscape

Sterling ReWild Sariska is designed to sit comfortably within its surroundings. The architecture and colours mirror the earthy tones of the Aravalli landscape rather than standing apart from it.

We stayed in a Mountain View Antler Tent, which combines the feel of a wilderness stay with the comfort of a well-designed room. The tent featured wooden flooring, warm lighting, a spacious bathroom, and a private sit-out facing the hills.

An outdoor shower and open views of the ridgeline added to the sense of being close to nature while still enjoying the comfort of a thoughtfully designed retreat.

The next morning began quietly. We woke before sunrise and stepped outside with coffee as the light slowly spread across the hills. Peacocks called in the distance, and the cool air made the moment feel unhurried.

It was a calm start to the day — exactly what we had hoped for.

Exploring Sariska

One of the highlights of staying near the reserve is the opportunity to explore Sariska Tiger Reserve.

We set out early for a safari drive through the forest. The landscape is a mix of dry deciduous forest, rocky slopes, and open clearings.

Wildlife sightings unfolded gradually. We spotted spotted deer grazing among the trees, langurs perched along the ridges, and a lone nilgai crossing the track.

At one point, our guide pointed out fresh pugmarks near a dry riverbed — a reminder that the forest has its own rhythm and surprises.

We didn’t see a tiger that morning, but the experience of moving through the forest, watching wildlife in its natural environment, was memorable in its own way.

A Thoughtful Anniversary Surprise

When we returned from the safari, the team at the resort had prepared a small surprise.

Our tent had been decorated with soft lighting and fresh marigold flowers, and a simple anniversary cake waited inside. It was a thoughtful gesture that added a personal touch to the stay without feeling overdone.

Moments like that often become the most memorable part of a trip.

Evenings at the Resort

Dinner that evening was relaxed and unhurried. The menu featured a mix of North Indian and regional Rajasthani dishes.

We tried laal maas, smoked baingan bharta, and millet rotis, along with a grilled dish and a lightly spiced dessert to finish the meal. The food was comforting and well prepared, matching the easy pace of the evening.

The service was attentive yet unobtrusive, allowing guests to enjoy the surroundings without interruption.

A Different Kind of Night

One of the most striking things about Sariska is the silence after sunset.

Without city lights or traffic, the night sky appears unusually clear. From the deck outside our tent, we spent some time simply looking up at the stars while listening to the distant sounds of the forest.

It was a quiet, simple moment — but one that felt meaningful.

A Weekend That Slowed Everything Down

By the time we left, the trip felt both short and surprisingly restorative.

Sterling ReWild Sariska offers something that many destinations struggle to provide — space to slow down. The setting, the design of the resort, and the proximity to nature make it easy to step away from daily routines for a while.

For couples looking for a peaceful getaway near Delhi, it’s a destination that combines comfort with the experience of being close to the wilderness.

And for us, it turned out to be a memorable way to mark another year together.
