Anantara Koh Yao Yai Introduces Five-Night Wellness Retreat Inspired by Traditional Thai Medicine
Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort & Villas has introduced a new five-night wellness retreat designed around the principles of Traditional Thai Medicine and elemental balance. The programme invites guests to focus on rest, renewal and wellbeing through personalised treatments, wellness activities and nature-led experiences on Koh Yao Yai, an island located in Phang Nga Bay, Thailand.

The Anantara retreat begins with a consultation conducted by the resort’s traditional Thai medicine practitioner. Based on an assessment of health history and physical condition, each guest’s dominant element—earth, wind, water or fire—is identified. A customised wellness schedule is then created to support balance and address individual wellbeing goals throughout the stay.

Guests participating in the programme are accommodated in Wellness Lagoon Pool Villas, which are set apart from the main resort. Each stay is supported by a dedicated villa host who coordinates daily activities and treatments, while also managing in-villa wellness amenities such as herbal infusions, fresh fruit and healthy snacks.
Daily activities may include practices such as breathwork, sound healing sessions, private muay Thai lessons or aqua aerobics. Treatments are conducted within the villa’s private therapy area and draw on traditional Thai techniques, including massage, acupressure and herbal therapies. The retreat also incorporates specialised therapies such as sacred fire therapy and salt pot (tub moh gleua) treatments, which are traditionally used to support circulation and detoxification.
Wellness-focused cuisine forms an integral part of the experience, with menus developed to support nourishment and balance. Dishes highlight seasonal vegetables, whole grains and locally sourced seafood. Guests may dine within their villa, by the pool or at selected outdoor locations on the island.
In addition to structured wellness activities, guests are encouraged to engage with the surrounding natural environment through guided birdwatching and quiet nature exploration, supported by on-site guides.

“At Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort & Villas, guests enjoy a slower, more natural pace of life, one that inspires renewal while also being among the most luxurious of experiences”, says Stuart de San Nicolas, General Manager. “With every detail and every moment of their stay carefully curated for their wellbeing, they return home renewed and revitalised.”
Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort & Villas is accessible by a 35-minute speedboat transfer from Phuket or Krabi. Wellness Lagoon Pool Villa retreats are priced from THB 39,600+++ per couple per night. The package includes half-board dining, one in-villa breakfast, THB 2,500 resort credit, one 90-minute spa treatment per guest and roundtrip airport transfers.
