Anantara Marks World Heritage Day by Highlighting Cultural Custodians

World Heritage Day focus on cultural custodians across Anantara destinations

Ahead of World Heritage Day on 18 April, Anantara Hotels & Resorts, part of Minor Hotels, has outlined its ongoing engagement with cultural custodians across its destinations. The initiative recognizes individuals who contribute to preserving heritage and maintaining the relevance of historic sites for visitors.

At Anantara New York Palace Budapest Hotel, Tamás Gebei helps guests understand the history of the Neo-Renaissance property, which dates back over a century. As the hotel’s History Insider, he shares narratives linked to the building and its past, including connections to the nearby New York Café. His role includes guiding visitors through historical references and personal stories that link the site to the city’s cultural context.

In Italy, at Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel, Fra Marcus, a Franciscan friar, engages guests with the former monastery’s heritage. Through guided walks, conversations and visits around the property, he introduces elements of the region’s history shaped by monastic traditions and community life. These interactions provide insight into the cultural and environmental context of the Amalfi Coast.

Since its inception, Anantara has combined conservation efforts with initiatives that involve individuals who interpret heritage through lived experiences. This approach brings together restoration work and storytelling, allowing visitors to engage with cultural sites beyond their physical form.

By highlighting the work of cultural custodians, the brand continues to present heritage as both a preserved asset and an evolving narrative shaped by people and place.
