Amazing Thailand Mid-Autumn Night 2025 Celebrates 50 Years of Thailand–China Friendship

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) hosted the “Amazing Thailand Mid-Autumn Night 2025” reception at One Bangkok to celebrate 50 years of friendship between Thailand and China. This event was part of the nationwide Nihao Month campaign. It welcomed 100 Chinese key opinion leaders (KOLs), content creators, and media representatives during China’s Golden Week and the Mid-Autumn Festival. The reception aimed to highlight Thailand as a prominent travel destination and to strengthen cultural and personal connections between the two nations.

Distinguished guests included Mr. Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports; Mr. Yang Xiao Long, Counsellor (Cultural Section) of the Embassy of China in Thailand; Ms. Natreeya Taweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports; and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, along with TAT executives. Their participation reinforced the event’s role as a bridge connecting Thailand and China through tourism and shared heritage.

Held under the theme “Mid-Autumn Festival Uniting Thai–Chinese Culture and Tourism,” the reception featured 100 participants, including 50 leading KOLs and content creators and 50 winners of the “Thailand, Told by You” UGC Challenge, alongside Thai celebrities Billkin Putthipong Assaratanakul and Pong Nawat Kulrattanarak.

Minister Atthakorn said: “This celebration reflects the enduring friendship between Thailand and China, inspired by the Mid-Autumn Festival’s values of unity, family, and reunion. As our nations mark 50 years of diplomatic relations, the phrase ‘China and Thailand are one family’ – Zhong Tai Yi Jia Qin – reflects our ongoing connection. Through tourism, we continue to strengthen this relationship, sharing experiences that bring our peoples closer.”

The event included Thai and Chinese cultural performances, symbolic activities, and celebrity participation. A mooncake-making ceremony led by Minister Atthakorn, Mr. Yang, Ms. Natreeya, Ms. Thapanee, and Billkin symbolized reunion and good fortune. A discussion on Thailand–China tourism relations with actor Pong Nawat Kulrattanarak and performances by Billkin added to the program.

As part of the “Thailand, Told by You” UGC Challenge and FAM Trip (5–10 October), participants will visit Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket, and Ko Samui to experience Thailand’s tourism offerings and share authentic impressions on Chinese digital platforms. The itinerary highlights Thailand’s 5 Must Do experiences: culinary offerings, immersive activities, local products, scenic attractions, and festivals. Participants also engage with Thailand’s Smart and Sustainable Tourism initiatives, including Trusted Thailand, which promotes safety standards for travellers.

TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool said: “Nihao Month reflects TAT’s focus on China as an important market. Through marketing, cultural collaboration, and cooperation with partners, we aim to convert awareness into travel. Last night’s reception highlighted friendship and will support travel throughout the festive and Lunar New Year seasons.”

As part of Nihao Month 2025, TAT launched initiatives including joint promotions with major Chinese platforms such as Meituan, Ctrip, Tongcheng, Dianping, Alipay, WeChat, RED, and Douyin, offering discounts and privileges until 31 December, as well as the Chinese Passport Privilege programme, providing special offers at Thai retailers including Siam Piwat, The Mall Group, Central Embassy, One Bangkok, 7-Eleven, Lotus’s, Makro, and Tops.

From January 1 to September 30, 2025, Thailand welcomed 3,417,673 visitors from China, with the Nihao Month expected to support arrivals in the final quarter of the year and reinforce tourism and cultural connections between the two countries.
