Airbus Inaugurates New A320 Family Assembly Line in Toulouse
Airbus Assembly Line Expansion Supports A320 Production Growth
Airbus has officially inaugurated its second modernised A320 Family final assembly line (FAL) at the Jean-Luc Lagardère facility in Toulouse, France, supporting the company’s plans to increase production of its single-aisle aircraft programme.
The opening ceremony was led by Guillaume Faury, Chief Executive Officer of Airbus, and Lars Wagner, Chief Executive Officer of Airbus Commercial Aircraft. The event was attended by French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot, Airbus executives and employees.
The new facility has been designed to support increasing demand for the A320 Family, particularly the A321neo, while strengthening Airbus’ global production network.

Guillaume Faury said the addition of the new assembly line provides greater flexibility and capacity as Airbus works towards its production target of 75 A320 Family aircraft per month.
The new line will operate alongside Airbus’ existing assembly facilities in Hamburg, Mobile, Tianjin and Toulouse, forming part of the company’s wider manufacturing strategy.
Expanding Airbus’ Global Production Network
The inauguration follows recent production expansions at Airbus facilities in Mobile, United States, and Tianjin, China.
With the launch of the second Toulouse assembly line, Airbus is on track to operate ten A320 Family final assembly lines worldwide in 2026.
The company’s global production network includes four assembly lines in Hamburg, two in Mobile, two in Tianjin and two in Toulouse.
Located within the former A380 assembly building at the Jean-Luc Lagardère site, the new facility has been developed to maximise the existing infrastructure while incorporating digital manufacturing technologies.
The assembly line includes automated logistics systems, digital controls and robotic solutions designed to improve production efficiency and workplace ergonomics.
Workforce Expansion at Toulouse Facility
The first assembly line at the Jean-Luc Lagardère site was inaugurated in July 2023 and currently employs around 700 people.
As production increases, the second line will gradually ramp up operations, with the total workforce across both assembly lines expected to reach approximately 1,500 employees.
The expansion underlines Airbus’ continued investment in its manufacturing capabilities as the company works to meet airline demand for the A320 Family programme across global markets.
