Air India Launches Easy Connect from Amritsar

Air India Easy Connect Links Amritsar to 27 Global Destinations

Air India has launched its Easy Connect service from Amritsar, expanding the Government of India’s hub-and-spoke initiative and improving international connectivity for travellers from Punjab.

The service enables passengers departing from Amritsar to complete through check-in to their final international destination, clear immigration at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, and transfer through Delhi Airport without re-checking baggage or changing terminals.

The initiative allows travellers to connect through Delhi as international transit passengers, reducing the need for multiple airport procedures and making onward journeys more straightforward.

Air India has designated two daily flights between Amritsar and Delhi under the Easy Connect programme:

  • AI1113: Departs Amritsar at 09:10 and arrives in Delhi at 10:40
  • AI1115: Departs Amritsar at 22:00 and arrives in Delhi at 23:20

These services provide onward connections to 27 international destinations within four hours of arrival in Delhi, covering destinations across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, West Asia and Southeast Asia.

Speaking at the launch, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, said the expansion of hub-and-spoke operations to Amritsar supports the government’s vision of strengthening India’s aviation network by extending international connectivity beyond major metropolitan cities.

He added that the new services will improve links between Punjab and its overseas communities while supporting tourism, trade and cultural exchange.

Air India also announced that it will become the first Indian airline to implement the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s Standard Operating Procedure for inbound hub-and-spoke operations. The system will enable international passengers to transfer seamlessly through Delhi to Amritsar, with inbound Easy Connect services expected to begin within the next two months.

P. Balaji, Group Head – Governance, Risk, Compliance & Corporate Affairs, Air India, said the Easy Connect service allows travellers from Punjab to begin their international journeys from their home city with fewer transfer procedures while supporting the Government of India’s vision of strengthening Indian aviation hubs.

Following the launch in Varanasi and Amritsar, Air India plans to extend Easy Connect services to Ahmedabad, Goa, Kochi and several other Indian cities in the coming weeks.

The airline said the initiative forms part of a broader effort to increase international transit through Indian airports, supported by Air India’s domestic and international network.

Bookings for Easy Connect flights are available through Air India’s website, mobile application, contact centre and authorised travel agents.
