A Simple Stop that Made our First Family Trip Easier
Travelling as a couple is easy, but travelling with a toddler changes everything. This was our daughter’s first proper trip, and from the planning stage itself, we knew that details would matter more than usual—especially when it came to food, comfort, and overall ease. You can’t simply walk into any place and hope it works. Or at least, that’s what we thought.

How Sterling Yercaud Made One Evening Effortless

We were in Yercaud, spending the day at a relaxed pace, when the question of where to eat came up by evening. Nothing had been planned, so like most travellers, we looked up options nearby and came across Zing at Sterling Yercaud. It seemed like a straightforward choice—good reviews, a comfortable setting—and we decided to go ahead without overthinking it.

From the moment we arrived at Sterling Yercaud, the setting itself began to ease some of our concerns. The property has a calm, unhurried atmosphere that naturally separates it from the busier parts of town. Even within the restaurant, the space felt open and relaxed, with views that encouraged you to slow down rather than rush through a meal. When you’re travelling with family, that kind of environment quietly makes a difference.

What stood out more, however, was how the experience was handled. Dining out with a child often comes with small but constant adjustments, but here those needs were understood without much explanation. There was a noticeable sense of attentiveness—requests were accommodated easily, and there was patience in the way things were managed. It didn’t feel like special treatment, just a natural extension of good hospitality, which in turn made the entire experience feel more comfortable.

The menu added to that ease. It offered a balanced mix of familiar options and regional dishes, allowing us to stay within our comfort zone while still trying something local. We ended up ordering a combination of both. The Chicken Vellai Kurma, a mild curry with coconut and cashew, was light and well-balanced, while the Meen Varuval, a traditional fish preparation, was simple and satisfying without being overpowering. The food worked well for the moment—not overly indulgent, not too experimental, just thoughtfully prepared.
Looking back, what made the experience stand out wasn’t just the food or even the service in isolation, but how seamlessly everything came together within the property. Sterling Yercaud offered a setting where the pace naturally slowed, and the restaurant became an extension of that environment. There was no sense of rush, no need to constantly adjust or rethink choices. For a family travelling with a young child, that sense of ease is what turns a simple stop into a memorable part of the trip.
Not every meal while travelling becomes significant, but sometimes you come across a place that simplifies things without trying too hard. For us, Zing at Sterling Yercaud was one of those places—unplanned, uncomplicated, and exactly what we needed at that point in the journey.
