Emirates Expands Starlink Wi-Fi Across Its Fleet

Emirates has recorded more than one million customer connections to its Starlink Wi-Fi service within seven months of its introduction, highlighting growing demand for high-speed inflight connectivity.

The airline said passengers have used more than one petabyte of data since the service was launched, with travellers using the onboard internet for video calls, streaming, online gaming, social media and messaging throughout their flights.

Currently, more than 60 Emirates flights operate each day with Starlink connectivity. The service is available on 33 Boeing 777 aircraft and three Airbus A380S, with installations continuing across the airline’s fleet.

The latest generation of Starlink technology allows Emirates’ Airbus A380 aircraft to deliver more than 2 Gbps of combined bandwidth, enabling passengers across all cabin classes to access complimentary high-speed internet during their journey.

The airline was among the first to introduce onboard internet on the Airbus A380. Previously, systems offered less than 1 Mbps of total aircraft bandwidth, but now, Starlink-equipped aircraft deliver much faster connectivity for browsing, streaming, and communication.

To support the rollout, Starlink installations are being carried out at Emirates Engineering facilities in Dubai, allowing more aircraft to enter service with the upgraded technology.

Future enhancements will include integrating Live TV streaming with Emirates’ ice inflight entertainment system, giving passengers additional onboard entertainment options.

The expansion of Starlink is part of the airlines’ wider investment to improve the passenger experience. Alongside the connectivity upgrade, the airline continues its fleet refurbishment programme, with 128 aircraft already receiving updated cabins, including Premium Economy, refreshed Business and First Class, upgraded Economy cabins, and enhanced in-flight entertainment systems.
