Amazing Thailand Fest Showcases Thai Culture and Cuisine

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with Central Group, organized Amazing Thailand Fest 2026 – The Wholesome Taste of Thai from 26 to 28 June 2026 at Central i-City in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event highlighted Thai cuisine, culture, wellness and travel experiences, encouraging Malaysian travellers to explore different destinations across Thailand.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana, in the presence of Surasak Phancharoenworakul, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

As part of the opening programme, Princess Ubolratana presented a live cooking demonstration featuring traditional Thai dishes, including khao kriap pak mo, saku sai kung and khanom tua paep, showcasing Thai culinary traditions and locally sourced ingredients.

Speaking at the event, Surasak Phancharoenworakul said Thai cuisine plays an important role in promoting the country’s culture and tourism, encouraging travel and creating opportunities for local communities and businesses.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool said the festival connects gastronomy with wellness, creativity, culture and local experiences, giving Malaysian travellers new reasons to visit different parts of Thailand.

Visitors enjoyed a variety of attractions, including a Thai Food Bazaar, cultural performances, cooking demonstrations, Thai massage sessions and live entertainment by Thai actor and singer Third Lapat. The event also featured the Sawasdee Lounge, designed with a floating market theme, along with family-friendly workshops, arts and crafts, dessert-making sessions, games, and a Kids Muay Thai Workshop.

The festival also supported TAT’s promotion of gastronomy tourism, alongside the growing interest in wellness travel, nature, local culture, and self-drive holidays to southern Thai destinations such as Hat Yai, Betong, Satun, Trang, Krabi, Phang-nga, and Phuket.

Thailand’s accessibility from Malaysia continues to support visitor growth through direct flights, rail services and multiple land border crossings, while Muslim-friendly travel facilities remain an important attraction for Malaysian visitors.

Malaysia continues to be one of Thailand’s leading international visitor markets. Between 1 January and 22 June 2026, Thailand welcomed more than two million Malaysian visitors, with independent travellers accounting for over 90 per cent of arrivals.

The Amazing Thailand Kuala Lumpur event marked the final stop of the Central Group international showcase, following editions in London, Berlin and Amsterdam. It also formed part of the broader Amazing Thailand Fest 2026 campaign, which promotes Thai gastronomy, culture and travel experiences in international markets.
