Dhaka Route Expands Etihad’s South Asia Network

Etihad Airways has launched its new service between Abu Dhabi and Dhaka, with the inaugural flight departing on 26 June. The airline operated a Boeing 777 on the first service, which departed at full capacity, marking the addition of Bangladesh’s capital to its growing route network.

The new route operates four times a week using a Boeing 777 aircraft configured with 28 Business Class lie-flat seats and 374 Economy Class seats. In addition to passenger services, the aircraft offers significant cargo capacity to support trade between the UAE and Bangladesh.

Commenting on the launch, Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, said the fully booked inaugural flight reflects strong demand for both passenger and cargo services. He noted that the UAE is home to a large Bangladeshi community, and the new route provides direct connectivity for families, business travellers and the Bangladeshi diaspora travelling through Abu Dhabi.

The service also supports Bangladesh’s garment and textile industry by providing additional cargo capacity and improved access to markets across the Middle East, Europe and North America through Etihad’s network.

Passengers travelling via Abu Dhabi can also use Etihad’s stopover programme, allowing them to explore the UAE capital before continuing their onward journey. Visitors can experience attractions such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and the Zayed National Museum.

With the addition of Dhaka, the airline continues to expand its South Asia network, strengthening connectivity between the region and destinations across its global route network.

Flights on the new Abu Dhabi–Dhaka route are now available to book through Etihad Airways.
