TAT Showcases Thai Wellness at International Tai Chi Conference
TAT Wellness Initiatives Strengthen Thailand–China Cultural Exchange
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) showcased Thailand’s wellness offerings at the First International Tai Chi Development Conference, held in Bangkok on 14 June 2026.
Organized under the theme “Tai Chi and the World, Sino-Thai Family Bond”, the event brought together participants from Thailand and China to promote cultural exchange through wellness, martial arts, tourism and traditional knowledge.
The conference highlighted the growing role of wellness and culture-led tourism in strengthening connections between the two countries while showcasing Thailand’s approach to health, hospitality and travel experiences.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from government agencies, tourism organisations, business associations and cultural institutions from both Thailand and China.
Among the attendees were Pasakorn Rangsiwatanasak, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports; Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Thailand; Narongsak Putthaprommongkol, Chairman of the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce; and Wang Zhenghua, Chairman of Spring Group.

Boonrapee Damrongrat, Director of TAT’s East Asia Market Division, said the conference provided an opportunity to strengthen cultural ties between Thailand and China while highlighting shared traditions through wellness practices.
He noted that the inclusion of Thai massage alongside Tai Chi demonstrated how traditional wellness practices can support cultural understanding and meaningful travel experiences.
Cultural Exchange Through Wellness and Martial Arts
The conference was organized in collaboration among Chunqiu Group (also known as Spring Group), Spring Airlines Thailand Office, Guangdong Yang Cheng Zhi Lv International Travel Service, the Shanghai Jingwu Sports Association, the World Yongnian Tai Chi Federation, and the Thailand Tai Chi Association.
Throughout the day, Tai Chi masters from China joined Thai cultural and martial arts representatives in a series of performances, demonstrations and exchange sessions designed to encourage dialogue and mutual understanding.
The programme included cultural performances, partnership signings, Tai Chi demonstrations, Chinese martial arts displays, cultural exchange activities, exhibitions, award presentations and group learning sessions.
TAT also supported a Thai massage demonstration, presenting one of Thailand’s recognised wellness traditions as part of the event’s cultural programme.
Tourism Programmes Support Visitor Engagement
Alongside the conference, participants from China joined a six-day travel programme covering Bangkok and Pattaya, allowing visitors to explore Thailand’s tourism offerings beyond the event itself.
In addition, TAT’s Guangzhou Office collaborated with Spring Airlines to organise a five-day familiarisation trip for three Chinese key opinion leaders from 12 to 16 June 2026. The itinerary included visits to Bangkok, Rayong and Chanthaburi, focusing on wellness, cultural attractions and local tourism experiences.
The conference and related activities form part of TAT’s ongoing efforts to promote Thailand to Chinese travellers through its campaign, Amazing Thailand: The Journey Your Heart Leads, which encourages visitors to discover experiences aligned with their personal interests.
