Government of Maharashtra Appoints Mangesh Joshi, IAS as Director of Tourism

The Government of Maharashtra has appointed Mangesh Joshi as Director of the Directorate of Tourism. He assumed charge at the Directorate of Tourism in Mumbai on April 21, 2026, following an administrative reshuffle.
Prior to this appointment, he served as Deputy Director General at Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA), where he was involved in administrative training and capacity-building initiatives.
In his new role, Mangesh Joshi will oversee tourism-related administration and policy implementation in the state. His responsibilities include supporting tourism development initiatives, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring execution of existing tourism policies.
Expressing his views after assuming office, Mangesh Joshi (IAS) said, “Maharashtra is a state rich in tourism potential. Our priority will be to ensure effective implementation of existing tourism policies and to promote the state’s tourist destinations at a global level. We aim to position Maharashtra as a unique and safe destination on the global tourism map. Additionally, through sustainable tourism initiatives, we are committed to generating local employment and accelerating the overall development of the state.”
