Lufthansa A380 Unveiled in 100th Anniversary Livery
Lufthansa has introduced a newly painted Airbus A380 as part of its 100th anniversary celebrations. The aircraft, featuring a blue design with an enlarged crane motif and the markings “1926 | 2026” and “100,” landed at Munich Airport under flight number LH9901 after repainting in Shannon, Ireland.
The Airbus A380, registered D-AIMH, underwent 34 days of work by a team of 35 specialists. During that time, more than 4,000 square metres of surface area were painted, including a 47-metre stylised crane across the fuselage. The aircraft is scheduled to begin regular service in March.
The A380 is the fourth aircraft to carry the anniversary design. Earlier this month, an Airbus A350-900 with the same blue livery arrived in Munich. A Boeing 787-9 and an Airbus A320neo, both based in Frankfurt, are also operating in the commemorative colours. Another Airbus A320neo with the crane design is expected in Munich shortly.
In the coming weeks, Lufthansa plans to add a Boeing 747-8 and an Airbus A350-1000 to the anniversary fleet. In total, seven aircraft will feature the special livery marking 100 years since the founding of the original “Luft Hansa.”

The designs are being applied as part of scheduled repainting cycles or during the initial factory paint process for new aircraft, keeping additional costs limited while aligning the fleet’s appearance with the airline’s centenary year.
