The Westin Mumbai Garden City Appoints Chef Sameer Karkare as Executive Sous Chef

The Westin Mumbai Garden City has appointed Chef Sameer Karkare as Executive Sous Chef.

Chef Karkare brings over a decade of experience in culinary operations, with expertise in menu development, kitchen management, and team leadership. He has progressed through multiple roles at The Westin Mumbai Garden City prior to this appointment.

Before taking on this position, he served as Chef de Cuisine at Prego, where he managed Italian cuisine offerings. He has also worked as a Culinary Development Chef, contributing to restaurant launches across India, with experience in concept development, menu engineering, kitchen setup, and team training.

His professional experience includes roles at Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, Cin Cin BKC, The Leela Mumbai, Taj Lands’ End, and InterContinental Marine Drive.

Chef Karkare is a graduate in Hotel Management & Catering Operations. His recognitions include three Silver Medals at the Great Indian Culinary Challenge (2011, 2012, and 2013), along with industry awards such as the International Hospitality Day Award (IHC-IIHM), Trainer of the Month Award, and Care for Associates Award.

In his new role, he will oversee culinary operations across the hotel, including menu development, kitchen operations, and team management.

The appointment is part of the hotel’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its culinary leadership.
