Focus on Government Relations and Regional Expansion in the Northeast

Summit Hotels & Resorts has appointed Shova Lama as Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Sikkim, as part of its efforts to strengthen engagement with local markets and government institutions in the Northeast.

In her new role, Shova Lama will be responsible for managing relationships with government departments and public institutions across the state. Her responsibilities include facilitating accommodation for official travel, coordinating hospitality arrangements for government events and conferences, and supporting institutional business development for the group.

She will also work with local communities and organisations to position Summit’s properties as venues for weddings, social gatherings and private events, supporting the group’s presence in the regional events segment.

In addition, she will assist with government registrations and empanelment processes, including compliance and documentation requirements. Her role also involves coordinating with stakeholders across neighbouring states to support potential expansion opportunities under a lease model.

Sumit Mitruka, CEO of Summit Hotels & Resorts, said the appointment reflects the company’s focus on strengthening relationships with government bodies, communities and regional stakeholders, particularly in Sikkim and the wider Northeast.

The appointment comes as the group continues to expand its presence across the Himalayan and Northeast regions, focusing on destinations where tourism, social events, and institutional travel are driving demand.
