Sterling Kodai Valley Introduces Cycle-Themed Suites Inspired by Slow Travel
Sterling Kodai Valley has introduced cycle-themed suites that reflect the hill station’s outdoor character and nostalgic charm. The update aligns with Sterling’s focus on destination-led stays, where accommodation closely connects with local identity.
Slow travel continues to gain relevance in global tourism, with studies indicating a rising preference for relaxed, nature-based holidays. Surveys show that many Indian leisure travellers now favour unhurried itineraries, while international patterns point to increased interest in activities such as cycling, walking trails and outdoor exploration. With its cool climate, lakefront setting and forest paths, Kodaikanal supports this shift toward a more measured pace of travel.
The new suites draw design inspiration from this theme. Full-sized bicycles mounted as art features, wheel-inspired décor, and tricycle-shaped amenity baskets appear throughout the bedroom, living area, and bathroom. The spaces are designed to feel warm and playful, creating a connection to the destination from within the room.
Sharing his perspective on the launch, Harinath M, SVP – Marketing, Sterling Holiday Resorts Limited, said, “At Sterling, we focus on creating stays that help guests connect with a destination in meaningful ways. Kodaikanal encourages exploration at an easy pace, from cycling around the lake to discovering quieter forest paths. Our cycle-themed suites reflect this rhythm, allowing guests to engage with the setting both indoors and outdoors.”
The suites combine themed design with features expected from an upscale resort, including spacious layouts, comfortable bedding and valley-facing sit-outs. Guests also have access to a spa, all-day dining, indoor games, and Discovery Central, which offers activities for children. The thematic elements are designed to complement comfort without altering the core experience of a hill-station stay.

To extend the concept beyond the rooms, Sterling Kodai Valley has added new options to its Discoveries and Experiences programme. Guests can join a night jeep ride through quieter routes, take an off-road trip to Puliyur Kombai, or participate in guided treks through shola forests, waterfalls and scenic viewpoints. Evenings may include bonfires and outdoor dining. A weekly activity, Crispy Tales at Kodai, invites guests to pick vegetables, learn to make Murukku, and cook with the chef.

These curated experiences highlight what visitors often appreciate about Kodaikanal—pine forests, seasonal blooms at Bryant Park, views from Coaker’s Walk and Pillar Rocks, and gentle cycling around Kodai Lake. By incorporating cycling into the suite design, Sterling Kodai Valley offers a stay where the destination’s character extends from the interiors to the activities available beyond the room.
