Spark by Hilton Opens First Property in the Caribbean and Latin America with Spark by Hilton Ponce
Hilton has announced the opening of its first Spark by Hilton hotel in the Caribbean and Latin America, representing a significant advancement in the regional expansion of Hilton’s premium economy brand. The 120-room Spark by Hilton Ponce, owned by Ponce Resorts Inc. and managed by HI Development P.R. Corp., offers guests essential comforts and friendly service at an accessible price point.
“We are pleased to welcome guests to Spark by Hilton Ponce, the first property for the brand in the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Maxime Verstraete, Vice President, Brand Management, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton.
“This opening reflects our continued focus on expanding Hilton’s presence in the region while offering a wider range of options for travelers. The introduction of Spark by Hilton in Ponce brings an affordable hospitality experience to the area and supports the local economy through job creation and our commitment to tourism in Puerto Rico.”
Located in Puerto Rico’s second-largest city, Spark by Hilton Ponce features modern Spanish architecture and a tranquil courtyard. The lobby features varied seating—ranging from communal tables to private workspaces—providing a comfortable setting for guests to enjoy the complimentary hot breakfast, connect with others, or work. Additional amenities include free parking, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, and over 1,600 square feet of flexible event space for gatherings of up to 120 guests.

“The Spark by Hilton brand has grown steadily since its introduction two years ago, and we are pleased to bring its hospitality approach to the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Alissa Klees, global brand leader, Spark by Hilton.
“With more than 200 hotels now open, Spark continues to extend its presence in new regions, aiming to provide consistent and quality-focused stays while supporting team members and owners in the communities we serve.”
Located three miles from Mercedita International Airport and just off Highway 52—which connects Ponce to San Juan—the hotel offers convenient access to cultural attractions, historic sites, and shopping areas. Its location provides a practical base for guests exploring the region or seeking a relaxed stopover before continuing their travels.
“The members of our team are looking forward to welcoming guests to Spark by Hilton Ponce,” said Miguel Vega, President, HI Development P.R. Corp.
“The hotel adds diversity to the hospitality offerings in the southern region and continues our long-standing contribution to tourism development in Ponce and Puerto Rico.”
Spark, a conversion-only brand, is expanding quickly due to its design approach, accessible pricing, and focus on essential guest needs. The brand also appeals to developers with flexible development options and Hilton’s support. Currently, Spark has more than 200 hotels open globally and over 190 in the pipeline.
Spark by Hilton Ponce becomes part of Hilton’s growing portfolio in Puerto Rico, where the company now welcomes guests at more than 10 properties and aims to expand further over the next four years. Across the Caribbean, Hilton operates approximately 50 hotels, with 40 in development. Throughout the Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton has nearly 300 hotels in operation and over 160 at various development stages.

Hilton continues to evolve its guest experience through a diverse portfolio of brands, offering travellers new ways to stay and explore. Hilton Honors members can earn and redeem Points for stays and access exclusive features through the Hilton Honors app.
