The Royal Thai Navy has ordered two Airbus C295 aircraft in an enhanced transport configuration to support transport, surveillance, and search-and-rescue operations in Thailand.
The aircraft will be operated from U-Tapao Air Base in Sattahip and will support logistics and maritime surveillance missions for the Royal Thai Navy.
According to Airbus, the two aircraft will be equipped with Electro-Optical and Infra-Red sensor systems, allowing crews to detect, classify and identify targets at sea and on land during both daytime and night-time operations.
The latest order follows a separate agreement signed recently between Airbus and the Royal Thai Air Force for two additional C295 aircraft. The Royal Thai Army has already operated three C295 aircraft since 2016 for cargo and troop transport duties.
The aircraft ordered for the Royal Thai Navy will be assembled at Airbus Defence and Space facilities in Seville, Spain. The first delivery is expected by the end of 2028.
Across the Asia-Pacific region, seven countries have ordered a combined total of 90 C295 aircraft. Airbus stated that the global C295 fleet has accumulated more than 750,000 flight hours to date.
