Antara Cruises Launches Private Catamaran Journey in Bhitarkanika

Bhitarkanika Cruise Experience Introduced by Antara Cruises

Antara Cruises has introduced a new private catamaran itinerary in Bhitarkanika, Odisha, offering travellers a two-night river journey through the region’s mangrove waterways and coastal landscapes.

Named The Silent River Escape, the all-inclusive itinerary operates on a 2 Nights / 3 Days format aboard Antara Catamarans and follows the route between Gupti, Dhamra and Kanika Island.

The experience is designed as a private cruise with only two suites onboard and a dedicated five-member crew. Each catamaran can accommodate up to six guests, while four catamarans are available for larger group bookings.

The itinerary has been launched during the seasonal closure of the Bhitarkanika Sanctuary and focuses on the region’s broader ecology, waterways, culture, and heritage beyond wildlife tourism.

The journey begins from Gupti with an onboard lunch service before sailing towards Dhamra. Guests can spend time on the open sundeck during the cruise and enjoy evening dining overlooking the river landscape.

On the second day, the itinerary includes a visit to Dhamra Temple for puja and darshan, followed by time near the harbour area before continuing towards Kanika Island. The catamaran remains anchored near the island before returning to Gupti on the final day.

The catamarans feature fully air-conditioned interiors, two guest suites, a lounge and dining areas, open decks and onboard dining services. Guests are served regional Odia dishes alongside Indian and international cuisine, with customised meal preferences and vegan menus available.

Additional onboard activities include cooking sessions, wildlife discussions, books, board games and guided shore excursions, with entry fees included in the package.

The private itinerary is priced at ₹1,00,000 for up to four guests, with additional arrangements available for groups of up to six passengers.
