OUTRIGGER Thailand Resorts Earn Green Key Certification

Green Key Certification Highlights Sustainability Efforts at OUTRIGGER Resorts
OUTRIGGER Resorts & Hotels has received Green Key certification for three of its beachfront resorts in Thailand, as part of the company’s ongoing sustainability and responsible hospitality initiatives.
The certified properties include OUTRIGGER Surin Beach Resort, OUTRIGGER Khao Lak Beach Resort, and OUTRIGGER Koh Samui Beach Resort. The Green Key certification is awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and recognises hospitality businesses that meet environmental and sustainability standards across areas such as energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, and community engagement.
Damian Clowes, Regional Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Outrigger Hospitality Group, said the certification reflects the company’s environmental and community-focused approach across its destinations.
OUTRIGGER said sustainability remains part of its operations through the OUTRIGGER Zone programme, launched in 2014, which focuses on resource efficiency, waste reduction, responsible sourcing, and environmental conservation. The company also supports beach cleaning, coral reef restoration, mangrove planting, and marine conservation activities in destinations where it operates.
Sustainability Initiatives at OUTRIGGER Surin Beach Resort

Located on Phuket’s west coast, OUTRIGGER Surin Beach Resort has implemented several sustainability measures, including chemical-free cleaning products, low-energy lighting systems, and water-saving facilities. The resort also uses eco-labelled ingredients in its dining operations and offers guest amenities produced from recycled materials.
Marine Conservation at OUTRIGGER Khao Lak Beach Resort

OUTRIGGER Khao Lak Beach Resort has supported sea turtle conservation projects in collaboration with local organisations. The resort has also participated in mangrove restoration and beach-cleaning initiatives to support the local coastal ecosystem.
Community and Environmental Programmes at OUTRIGGER Koh Samui Beach Resort
OUTRIGGER Koh Samui Beach Resort has partnered with Baan Tai Crab Bank on marine conservation projects involving the release of young crabs into the ocean. The property has also supported seagrass planting projects and educational programmes for children focused on recycling and environmental awareness.
The company said its Phi Phi Island Resort is also preparing for the Green Key certification process.
