Noida International Airport Showcases Indian Art and Cultural Heritage

Noida International Airport Features Installations Inspired by Indian Heritage

Noida International Airport (NIA) has introduced a series of art installations and design elements inspired by Indian culture and heritage as part of its passenger experience strategy. The airport has collaborated with Padma Shri awardee Paresh Maity to present artworks integrated into the terminal environment.

The airport’s architectural design incorporates influences from Western Uttar Pradesh, including red granite inspired by historic monuments, stepped structures evoking the ghats of Varanasi, and courtyard-inspired spaces inspired by regional havelis.

NIA said the terminal has been designed to create a calm and passenger-friendly environment through open spaces, natural light, curated artworks, and intuitive wayfinding systems.

One of the central installations at the airport is Mystic Abode, an artwork created by Paresh Maity using more than 8,000 brass bells. The installation is designed to create a reflective and peaceful environment inspired by the spiritual and cultural significance of bells in Indian homes and temples.

The airport also features Maity’s six-panel oil painting titled Awakening (Jagriti), which presents visual interpretations of cultural and spiritual sites across India, connected by rivers such as the Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, and Saryu.

The artwork includes depictions of Varanasi, Sarnath, the Taj Mahal in Agra, Mathura and Vrindavan, Ayodhya, and the Mahakumbh gathering. The series reflects themes linked to spirituality, architecture, heritage, and daily life across different parts of India.

Paresh Maity is known for public art projects and exhibitions in India and internationally, with works displayed in museums and public collections including Rashtrapati Bhawan, the British Museum, and the National Gallery of Modern Art.

Noida International Airport said its overall design combines operational planning with Indian hospitality and cultural representation to create a distinct airport experience for passengers.
