Novotel Guwahati Hosts ‘Flavours of Assam’ Dinner to Mark Magh Bihu
Novotel Guwahati GS Road will celebrate Magh Bihu with Flavours of Assam, a themed dinner showcasing the region’s cuisine and traditions. The celebration will take place on January 14 and 15, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm at The Square.
Also known as Bhogali Bihu, Magh Bihu is associated with the harvest season and is traditionally celebrated through food and community gatherings. Reflecting this spirit, the hotel will present an Assamese menu featuring dishes such as til pitha, gila pitha, assorted larus, duck cooked with black sesame, ari masor tenga, lai xaak gahori, omitar khar and kola chawlor kheer, along with other seasonal preparations. The dishes will be prepared using locally sourced ingredients and traditional cooking methods.
The Square will be decorated with traditional elements to reflect the atmosphere of Bihu celebrations. Alongside the food, guests can expect a festive setting that highlights Assamese culture through décor and ambience.

Commenting on the occasion, Vineet Kumar Mishra, General Manager, Novotel Guwahati, said that harvest festivals across India—such as Magh Bihu in Assam, Lohri in Punjab and Pongal in Tamil Nadu—share a common theme of gratitude and togetherness. He added that the hotel aims to recognise Magh Bihu by presenting regional cuisine and extending warm hospitality inspired by Assamese traditions.
