Miraval The Red Sea Opens on Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island

Miraval The Red Sea Marks Brand’s International Expansion

Miraval Resorts & Spas has announced the opening of Miraval The Red Sea on Shura Island, marking the brand’s first property outside the United States and its entry into the Middle East.

Located on Saudi Arabia’s west coast, the adults-only wellness retreat is set between the Red Sea coastline and desert landscapes, surrounded by lagoons and mangrove forests. The opening introduces the Miraval approach to mindfulness and wellbeing to a new market while incorporating elements of Saudi culture and heritage into the guest experience.

Drawing on the brand’s philosophy of helping guests achieve balance and wellbeing, the resort combines wellness programmes, outdoor activities, spa experiences and cultural engagement within a nature-focused setting.

Designed by Foster + Partners in collaboration with Rockwell Group, the property features 180 guestrooms, suites and villas integrated into the island’s natural surroundings. The architecture uses natural materials, muted desert-inspired tones and design elements influenced by the marine environment to create a calm and restorative atmosphere.

The resort offers personalised wellbeing itineraries developed with dedicated experience planners. Programmes can include mindfulness activities, fitness sessions, cultural experiences and outdoor adventures tailored to individual guest preferences.

Guests can also participate in experiences inspired by local traditions, including Arabic calligraphy, storytelling sessions, perfume-blending workshops, and guided stargazing activities in the desert landscape.

Outdoor activities include kayaking through mangrove waterways, paddleboarding along the coastline and zip-lining experiences designed to encourage exploration and engagement with nature.

At the centre of the resort is a contemplative labyrinth, providing a dedicated space for walking meditation, reflection and mindfulness practices.

Life in Balance Spa

A key feature of the resort is the 40,000-square-foot Life in Balance Spa, which includes 39 indoor and outdoor treatment rooms overlooking lagoons, gardens and desert scenery.

The spa menu incorporates treatments inspired by regional wellness traditions, including hammam rituals, mineral-based therapies and treatments influenced by the surrounding desert environment. Wellness programmes focus on relaxation, restoration and personal wellbeing.

Dining Experiences

The resort’s culinary offering is centred on balanced and wellness-focused dining.

Rosemary, the signature restaurant, serves plant-forward dishes prepared with seasonal ingredients and regional influences. Palm Court Café offers casual dining throughout the day, featuring lighter meals, fresh juices and wellness-oriented options.

Coral Cove provides a social dining experience with sharing plates and coastal-inspired cuisine, transitioning from daytime dining to evening gatherings.

Guests can also participate in interactive culinary sessions at the Life in Balance Culinary Kitchen, where experiences include Saudi coffee traditions, mindful cooking classes and non-alcoholic mixology workshops.
