Minor Hotels Expands Egypt Presence with Anantara Somabay Project

Minor Hotels Signs Anantara Somabay Resort & Residences in Red Sea Destination
Minor Hotels has announced the signing of Anantara Somabay Resort & Residences, marking the company’s continued expansion in Egypt.
Scheduled to open in May 2030, the development will include 300 hotel keys and 150 branded residential units under the Anantara Hotels & Resorts brand.
The project is being developed in partnership with Somabay Hotel Company SAE and will bring the Anantara brand to Somabay, a Red Sea destination.
Located within the Somabay masterplan, the resort is designed to combine hospitality, residential living, wellness, and leisure experiences within an integrated coastal destination.

The property will feature sea-view and lagoon-facing rooms, beach and pool villas, dining venues, wellness facilities, leisure areas, and family-focused amenities. Residential options will include apartments and beachfront villas with private boat dock access.
Somabay is located around 45 minutes from Hurghada International Airport, offering connectivity to European and Middle Eastern markets.
Amir Golbarg, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels Middle East & Africa, said the partnership supports the company’s strategy to expand Anantara properties and branded residences in Egypt.
He added that Somabay provides a suitable setting for a combined resort and residential development, supported by growing international tourism demand.
Ibrahim El Missiri said the partnership with Minor Hotels aligns with Somabay’s long-term plans to develop the Red Sea destination through hospitality and tourism investment.
Deema Abu Ghazaleh added that the collaboration reflects continued investment in Egypt’s hospitality sector and the development of the Red Sea coastline as an international tourism destination.
