Minor Hotels Launches The Wolseley Hotels Brand, First Property Planned in New York

Minor Hotels has announced the global launch of The Wolseley Hotels, with its first property set to open in New York City in early 2027. The Wolseley Hotel New York will be situated near Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan and will be the brand’s inaugural hotel. The opening will also introduce The Wolseley restaurant and bar in the United States.

The hotel will occupy the historic building at 130 West 44th Street, originally built in 1905 as the clubhouse for The Lambs Club. The structure was designed by the architectural firm McKim, Mead & White and has long been linked with Broadway and the city’s theatre scene.

The project will blend aspects of British hospitality customs with the cultural and architectural identity of New York.

Hotel Design and Facilities

The Wolseley Hotel New York will feature 76 guest rooms and suites. The design approach will combine classic elements with contemporary details, focusing on functional layouts, crafted interiors and a calm guest environment.

A central feature of the hotel will be The Wolseley New York, the brand’s first restaurant in the United States. The restaurant will offer all-day dining and beverages while reflecting the café-style concept of The Wolseley Piccadilly in London.

The property will also include a cellar-level bar, designed as a smaller and more private space, along with a wellness and fitness area for hotel guests.

Brand Background

The Wolseley Hotels brand takes inspiration from The Wolseley in London, renowned for its café-style dining and Art Deco ambiance. The new hotel brand seeks to extend that hospitality ethos into properties that blend dining, design, and service.

In New York, the brand will adapt this concept to reflect the city’s character while maintaining the restaurant-led approach associated with The Wolseley name.

Dilip Rajakarier

Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International, the parent company of Minor Hotels, said the launch of The Wolseley Hotels represents a new step for the group as it develops hotel projects connected to culinary and heritage-driven concepts.

Aviv Laurence, CEO of property owner BJGH, said the project will introduce the Wolseley restaurant and bar concept to the United States through the New York property.

Expansion Plans

The Wolseley Hotel New York will be the first property under The Wolseley Hotels brand and marks Minor Hotels’ entry into the luxury hotel segment in the United States.

Minor Hotels said the New York project will form the basis for the brand’s future development, with additional properties planned in cities across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
