Madhya Pradesh Tourism Opens Third Edition of Chanderi Eco Retreat
The third edition of the Chanderi Eco Retreat has been inaugurated by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board in collaboration with the District Administration and Sunset Desert Camp. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav virtually inaugurated the retreat, while Union Minister for Communications and Development of North-Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, presided over the event.
The tent city, located near Kati Valley, will remain open to domestic and international tourists for over three months. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav noted that Chanderi’s natural surroundings make it a key attraction for travellers. He highlighted that the region is also gaining attention from the film and fashion industries, with multiple productions and creative professionals visiting through the Eco Retreat platform.
Union Minister Shri Scindia remarked that Chanderi’s forts, stepwells, palaces, and heritage sites reflect the cultural legacy of Bundelkhand. He added that Chanderi represents both historical continuity and the craftsmanship that defines its textile traditions.

Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism, Culture, Home, and Religious Trusts & Endowments) and Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, stated that the third edition of the retreat is an opportunity to highlight Chanderi’s heritage globally. He added that the event will help position Chanderi’s textile craft and design traditions on wider national and international platforms, while supporting local tourism.
