Lufthansa Orders 20 Long-Haul Aircraft for Fleet Renewal

Lufthansa Group Expands Future Aircraft Order Book
Lufthansa Group has approved an order for 20 additional long-haul aircraft as part of its ongoing fleet renewal plans. The decision was approved by the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG following a proposal by the Executive Board.
The order includes ten Airbus A350-900 aircraft and ten Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled between 2032 and 2034.

Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, said the order reflects the group’s continued investment in fleet modernisation, operational efficiency and lower emissions.
According to Lufthansa Group, the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 aircraft will gradually replace older long-haul aircraft currently in operation from 2032 onwards. The airline group stated that decisions regarding which airlines and hubs will operate the aircraft will be announced at a later stage.
The company said that increasing fleet standardization is expected to improve operational flexibility, reduce complexity and support more efficient maintenance and crew management processes. Lufthansa Group also noted that newer aircraft are designed to consume less fuel and produce lower emissions than older models.
Following the latest order, Lufthansa Group’s aircraft order book now stands at 232 aircraft, including 107 long-haul aircraft scheduled for future delivery.
The airline group continues to focus on updating its fleet across multiple airlines within the group as part of its long-term operational and sustainability strategy.
