Le Méridien expands hotel presence with Surat opening

Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of Le Méridien Surat, marking the brand’s entry into the city and its second property in Gujarat. Located along the Tapi River, the hotel offers access to one of India’s key commercial centres.

, Senior Vice President, South Asia at Marriott International, said the opening reflects the brand’s expansion in India, with Surat offering a mix of business activity and cultural heritage.

The hotel spans approximately 1,25,000 sq. ft. and includes 185 rooms and suites. Design elements draw inspiration from Surat’s diamond and textile industries, with installations such as “The Diamond Street – Heart of Surat” and “The Threads of Surat – The Silk City” referencing local craftsmanship.

Dining and Facilities

Le Méridien Surat offers a range of dining options, including Surat Kitchen, an all-day dining restaurant, and Le Scoop, which features the brand’s gelato programme.

The property includes over 100,000 sq. ft. of event space, with two pillarless ballrooms and outdoor lawn areas designed for conferences, meetings and social events.

Leisure facilities include a swimming pool and a fitness centre, providing options for relaxation and daily routines.

Cultural Engagement

As part of the brand’s Unlock Art programme, the hotel has partnered with Surat Fort, offering guests access to a local cultural landmark and encouraging exploration of the city beyond the property.
