Kimpton Opens Mirador Pacific Grove on California’s Monterey Peninsula
Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has opened on California’s Monterey Peninsula. The boutique property draws inspiration from the region’s Spanish Revival heritage and coastal setting, offering a design-led retreat focused on connection, comfort, and local character.
Located about half a mile from the Pacific Ocean, the hotel is in historic neighbourhoods and within walking distance of landmarks such as Monarch Grove Sanctuary and Point Pinos Lighthouse. The architecture features terracotta rooflines, arched details, and hand-plastered walls, while interiors by San Francisco–based design studio Narrative reflect the tones and textures of the surrounding landscape.
The hotel offers 99 rooms and suites across four floors, many with private balconies and select suites with fireplaces. Artwork by regional artists and natural materials creates an atmosphere that is coastal yet understated, aligned with Pacific Grove’s character.
Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove provides a range of lifestyle-focused amenities for guests and local visitors. These include a fire-lit courtyard for informal gatherings, a fitness studio, and flexible meeting and event spaces suitable for small groups and celebrations. Additional offerings include in-room yoga mats, wellness kits, pet-friendly accommodations, and complimentary bicycles for exploring the coastline.
Daily wellness programming, delivered in partnership with Monterey Bay Moves, features activities such as yoga, sound baths, and fitness sessions. Guests also have access to Kimpton’s brand-wide rituals, including the morning Kimpton Kickstart coffee service and the evening Kimpton Social hour.
Julia Chaland, General Manager of Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove, said the opening reflects a careful balance between Pacific Grove’s heritage and contemporary hospitality, creating a place that welcomes both travellers and the local community.
Opening alongside the hotel, The Caledonian serves as the property’s signature dining venue. Led by California-native Chef Aaron Rayor, the restaurant features a modern American menu focused on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Signature dishes include roasted chicken with cranberry beans, whole branzino, and Scottish salmon.
The beverage programme features cocktails, zero-proof options, and a curated selection of California wines. Design elements echo the hotel’s Spanish Revival style, with warm wood finishes, plastered walls, a fireplace lounge, a semi-open kitchen, and outdoor patios.
The Caledonian serves breakfast daily from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., dinner from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and offers bar service into the evening, with daily happy hours from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove is the latest addition to Kimpton’s growing global portfolio, joining recent openings in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Riyadh. The property reinforces Kimpton’s focus on design-driven hotels rooted in local culture and community.
