JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll Island Resort Marks One Year of Operations
JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll Island Resort has marked its first anniversary, reflecting a year focused on guest experiences, community engagement, and mindful travel in the Maldives.
Since opening, the resort has positioned itself as a tranquil island retreat for travellers seeking balance, presence, and renewal. The anniversary was commemorated with a series of celebratory events for guests, beginning with a sunset cocktail reception hosted by the resort’s General Manager. The evening featured live performances by a local band and a DJ, creating a relaxed and social atmosphere.

Srikanth Deverapalli, General Manager of the resort, said the first year represented a journey shaped by intention and teamwork. He noted that the resort was envisioned as a place where luxury feels personal, encouraging guests to connect with themselves, with others, and with the surrounding natural environment. The anniversary, he added, also recognised the contributions of the resort’s team, partners, and guests.

During its inaugural year, the resort received several industry recognitions. In 2025, it was named Indian Ocean’s Leading New Resort and Maldives’ Leading Luxury Island Resort, and was also recognised at the World Luxury Travel Awards. Additional acknowledgements included awards for family-focused offerings and for SPA By JW, particularly for its design and overwater setting.

The resort was also recognized at the TTM Awards and received nominations from DestinAsian and Condé Nast Traveler Middle East. Within its first year of operation, the resort earned Green Globe certification, underscoring its ongoing commitment to responsible, sustainable practices.

Wellness has remained a key focus throughout the year, with curated retreats and programmes designed to support mindfulness and personal renewal. These included wellness-led experiences that encouraged balance across body and mind.

Culinary experiences also played an important role in the resort’s first year. Highlights included a two-night dining collaboration with Chef Stefan Fath of Restaurant Jellyfish Hamburg, as well as seasonal programmes featuring curated tastings, wine-and-cheese pairings, garden-to-table cooking classes, and festive dining experiences. Family-oriented activities and restorative spa offerings complemented the resort’s broader guest programme.

As it enters its second year, JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll Island Resort continues to focus on thoughtful hospitality, offering experiences designed to support connection, wellbeing, and meaningful travel in the Maldives.
