InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of InterContinental Sapporo.

Located on Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island, Sapporo is known for its ski resorts, culinary offerings, and designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts. InterContinental Sapporo is situated within Nakajima Park and close to the Susukino entertainment district, providing a convenient base for exploring the city. The hotel emphasizes cultural discovery, supported by concierge services designed to guide guests through local experiences.

The hotel occupies the 9th to 14th floors of the Lilac Square complex and has 149 rooms, including 13 suites, with city, park, and river views along the Toyohira River. The interior design blends contemporary luxury with elements inspired by Hokkaido’s natural landscapes, featuring a lobby lounge with plants, a fireplace, and an outdoor terrace on level 9.
The property offers three dining venues. Sawaka, an omakase-style restaurant, combines Japanese culinary techniques with international methods. Countertop provides an open-kitchen experience, while AuBlanc offers all-day bistronomy-style dining, including breakfast, dinner, and a bakery. Norva Lounge & Bar serves afternoon tea and cocktails in a space with a fire lounge and forest lounge.

Additional guest facilities include a 20-metre indoor heated pool on level 9, a 24-hour fitness centre, and the Club InterContinental lounge on the top floor, which provides private check-in, breakfast, and evening refreshments.
InterContinental Sapporo is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, which includes Six Senses, Kimpton, Vignette, and Hotel Indigo. The Regent brand is scheduled to debut in Japan in 2028.
