27 new organizations have joined UN Tourism’s expanding Affiliate Member network. The new members bring together profiles from various backgrounds and company types: universities, associations, non-governmental organizations, for-profit businesses, and destination management organizations (DMOs), among others. They represent all 16 regions geographically, with five from Africa, eight from the Americas, two from Asia and the Pacific, six from Europe, and six from the Middle East.
“Incorporating such a valuable and solid group of new Affiliate Members reflects our commitment to amplifying and fostering a high-quality and geographically diverse global network of affiliated entities within the global tourism ecosystem, now comprising 505 entities. Strengthening connections across both public and private sectors is essential for building a more inclusive and responsible tourism sector,” said UN Tourism Director of the Affiliate Members and Public-Private Collaboration Department, Ion Vilcu.

The Executive Council reviewed and approved the applications following the current admissions process. These candidates are the outcome of the Affiliate Membership’s expansion strategy, which strives to enhance the network’s geographical balance and quality. At the Executive Council’s 122nd Session, held on November 14 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, the admission of these new members was approved.
