Hyatt Regency Denver renovation marks 20-year milestone

Denver hotel renovation focuses on guest rooms and meeting spaces

Hyatt Regency Denver has completed a $70 million renovation, aligning with its 20-year presence in downtown Denver. The project covers a full update of its 1,100 guest rooms and suites, along with changes to its meeting and event spaces.

The redesign builds on earlier updates to dining venues and public areas carried out in 2018 and 2019. These included spaces such as Former Saint Craft Kitchen and Taps, Peaks 27th Floor Lounge and Assembly Hall Bar + Market, alongside the addition of artwork by Colorado-based artists.

The refreshed guest rooms follow a design approach centred on simplicity and comfort. Materials such as wood, stone and porcelain have been used to reflect the surrounding landscape. Updated features include improved lighting, USB-C charging points, larger workspaces and added storage. Bathrooms have also been redesigned with new fittings, glass-enclosed showers or bathtubs, and upgraded vanities.

As part of the renovation, the hotel has introduced a new meeting space, Summit Five, located on the fifth floor. The area is designed for smaller gatherings and connects with the Denver City Terrace, allowing indoor and outdoor use for events.

Sustainability formed part of the project. Around 90 per cent of furniture, mattresses and other materials from previous rooms were reused or resold. New bathroom installations also incorporate recycled materials, including shower pans made using plastic bottles.

The renovation was completed over 14 months while the hotel remained operational. Local partners, including DLR Group, Artaic Group, Benjamin West and Milender White, contributed to the project.

The update strengthens the hotel’s position as a venue for both business and leisure stays, with over 60,000 square feet of flexible event space supporting a range of uses, from conferences to smaller gatherings.
