Hotel Palacio Opens New Property in Guwahati’s Paltan Bazar, Shares ₹800 Crore Expansion Plan
Hotel Palacio Expands Presence Across Northeast India with New Guwahati Launch
Hotel Palacio, a hospitality brand based in Assam, has announced the launch of its second property in Guwahati at Paltan Bazar. With the addition of the new hotel, the brand now operates three properties, including two in Guwahati and one in Alipurduar, as it continues to expand its presence across the Northeast.
Alongside the launch, Palacio Hospitality also shared its ₹800 crore expansion roadmap, which includes plans to develop 10 properties over the next decade. While the Northeast remains the company’s primary focus area, it is also exploring opportunities in other parts of India.

Located in Guwahati’s commercial and transit district, the Paltan Bazar property has been developed to serve the city’s growing demand for accommodation, events, and dining experiences driven by increasing tourism and business activity.
Speaking about the launch, Anup Poddar, Chairman of Poddar Group, said the brand has grown alongside the changing hospitality landscape of the Northeast, supported by improving connectivity and rising demand for organised hospitality services in the region.

He added that Guwahati has played an important role in the company’s journey, and expanding within the city was a logical step. According to him, the Paltan Bazar location will help the brand cater to both transit and destination travellers while strengthening its presence in the meetings, events, and corporate travel segment.
Ankit Poddar, Managing Director and COO of Poddar Group, said the company’s expansion roadmap reflects a long-term approach focused on steady growth. He noted that the group plans to combine owned properties with management agreements and lease models to support future expansion sustainably.
He also confirmed that Hyatt Regency Gangtok, currently under development, is among the upcoming projects planned as part of the company’s wider hospitality portfolio.
The new property features 83 rooms across categories, more than 6,000 square feet of indoor banquet space, a 7,000-square-foot rooftop venue, conference rooms, and boardroom facilities. The hotel is expected to cater to corporate travellers, social events, and business gatherings.

As part of its dining and guest experience offering, the hotel has introduced Omara, a restaurant developed in collaboration with Chef Vikey Ratnani. The property will also include a cocktail bar-cum-listening room designed to offer a more experience-led social space for guests.
The Hotel Palacio expansion comes at a time when emerging cities are seeing increased hospitality demand, supported by infrastructure growth, rising disposable incomes, and expanding tourism circuits. Guwahati continues to remain an important gateway to the Northeast, attracting business, transit, and leisure travellers.

With its growing regional presence and upcoming projects, Hotel Palacio is continuing its expansion, focusing on operational consistency, flexible growth models, and long-term hospitality development.
