Caribbean Welcomes First Hyatt Centric Hotel

The first hotel in the Caribbean to bear the Hyatt Centric brand, the Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo, has opened, according to a statement from Hyatt Hotels Corporation. Situated in the chic Ensanche Piantini neighbourhood, this new lifestyle property welcomes astute business and leisure travellers to explore the historical and contemporary sites in the capital of the Dominican Republic, from upscale dining and entertainment to high-end shopping, as well as the Colonial Zone, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its 16th-century architecture and iconic landmarks like the Cathedral of the Americas and Alcázar de Colón.

“Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo’s prime location offers a launchpad for modern travellers to connect with the best of what the city has to offer,” said Luis Emilio Gomez Garcia, General Manager, Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo. “As the first Hyatt Centric branded property in the Dominican Republic, we look forward to crafting memorable experiences for guests and offering a gateway to Piantini’s culture, historic landmarks, attractions and more.”

Inspired by Dominican artist Thimo Pimentel, the hotel boasts 130 bedrooms and suites with a modern design. Ceramic installations and artwork that employ the terracotta colour scheme of red, white, and black make this clear. Local artist Patricio Correa uses wooden sculptures and natural materials to celebrate the region's culture. Artworks that capture the essence of Santo Domingo, like carnival masks, figurative bust figures, and fish sculptures, can be found in the common areas. The ceramics in the guestrooms are also influenced by Antillean and Pimentel culture. Every guestroom boasts multifunctional amenities, including 55" flat-screen HDTVs and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Burble Rooftop Bar is the place to go if you're looking for a rooftop experience with a resident DJ and a pool. During the day, you can have smoothies and snacks by the pool; at night, you can enjoy cocktails, meals, and city views.
