AirAsia Releases Aidilfitri Travel Guidance
Airline advises early preparation and use of digital services during festive travel period
AirAsia has issued travel recommendations for passengers flying during the upcoming Aidilfitri period, advising them to prepare in advance due to anticipated high travel volumes.
Passengers are encouraged to use the AirAsia MOVE app for self-check-in, available from 14 days to 1 hour before the scheduled departure. This process issues an electronic boarding pass. Counter check-in services are reserved for guests with reduced mobility, those travelling with an infant, pregnant individuals, senior citizens, and unaccompanied minors. Pregnant guests beyond 27 weeks gestation must provide an approved medical certificate and complete a form at the counter. Special assistance, such as wheelchair services, requires pre-booking at least four hours before departure via the app or at the time of booking.

For international travel, guests are responsible for confirming and adhering to all entry and transit requirements, including visa regulations, for their destination and any transit countries. These requirements are subject to change, and verification with relevant embassies or consulates is advised. The AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com feature an Auto Visa Check (AVC) function that allows real-time verification of most visa documents during online check-in (14 days to 1 hour prior). An e-boarding pass is issued upon successful verification; otherwise, a manual document check at the airport counter is required.
Travellers should arrive at the airport at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight. Check-in counters close one hour before departure at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) and 45 minutes before departure at other Malaysian airports for domestic flights.
Malaysian passport holders can utilize the MyNIISe app for immigration clearance at KLIA Terminal 2, which offers dedicated QR code and facial recognition lanes after passport details are scanned into the app.
E-boarding passes from the AirAsia MOVE app are generally accepted at AirAsia operating airports in Malaysia and internationally. However, certain airports may still require a printed boarding pass for verification. For checked baggage, guests can print tags at airport kiosks after self-check-in and use self-bag drop counters. Baggage allowance adjustments can be made via the app up to four hours before departure.
Cabin baggage is restricted to one main item (not exceeding 56 x 36 x 23cm) plus one personal item (such as a laptop bag, handbag, or small bag). The combined weight for these two pieces must not exceed 7kg.
